Thirsty Header

A Debt That I Never Owed

Well I see you met my girlfriend
And you bought her a double
I can tell you this my friend
she's a ten
On the scale of trouble

You'd better think about leavin' now
Before she makes me use
some muscle
And it just ain't right
(it just ain't right)

I'm up all night payin' dues on
A debt that I never owed
I'm up all night payin' dues on
A debt that I never owed

Let me try and explain...

See she takes me home
And she leads me up the stairs
She keeps me up all night and she
makes me pay
She's the answer to my prayer
I never would leave her
And I know my friend it's sad
And it just ain't right
(it just ain't right)

Chorus

Well it's been two years now
And thanks I'm feeling much better
You see she left me cold to go
digging gold
Without even one letter
I'm sure she's getting along just fine
And I'd like to stay and talk but the
 baby's cryin'
And it just ain't right
(it just ain't right)

Chorus
ABOUT THE SONG:

Words and Music by Thirsty Howell

After performing with country recording artist
"The David Lee Henderson Band" in Nashville we all sat around Sally's house in the backwoods. We had fun shooting the breeze and listening to a great blues radio station coming from somewhere in Tennessee. Upbeat songs about lyin' and cheatin' by artists such as Robert Cray.
Thanks to Sally for the hospitality.

I never got the name of the station - but did get the inspiration for this song.

Haven't we all met a girl like this...
